A couple of years ago we experienced our first alpaca farm visit which started an obsession that has resulted in having our own herd of alpaca. Have you ever wondered why people raise alpaca as livestock? Why alpacas? What do they do? What's their purpose? Really, what are they? Well, those are questions that were asked of us and we were asking ourselves. Why alpacas? That very important question is the basis of how we became the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm? At first it was why on earth are you raising alpacas? The more we learned about these beautiful animals the more we fell in love with the wonder of alpacas.
There are so many ways to experience the wonder of alpacas. We merely have to look out the window to see the wonder or walk toward the pasture to hear the wonder of their gentle hum or when you get a chance to hold on alpaca and feel the wonder of their fabulous fiber. When you visit the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm you will know the answer to, Why Alpacas? It's not just a matter of gaining knowledge about alpacas, if you are serious about breeding, raising, or using the fiber that these beautiful creatures create you need to apply that knowledge to create WISDOM.
The Wonder Why Alpaca Farm raises both Suri and Huacaya Alpaca. Our services include, Sales, Breeding, Agisting, and Fiber Sales along with Farm Tours, Events and Education. If your interested in learning more about alpaca, please contact us to schedule a farm visit.

As of February 28, 2010, I am a Certified Sorter Apprentice.
What does this mean?
It means that I am trained to look at fleeces to determine their textile grade.
Why is this important?
It's important because fiber needs to be properly sorted to make a better quality product. There is more usable fiber from each alpaca and less waste at the mill when properly sorted.
What are the advantages?
As a fiber producers, you will receive an individual sort record for each alpaca, a sort summary for the entire clip, assistance with herd management and increased usable fiber which means increased profit potential along with suggested uses for each grade of fiber I sort.
